Libraries and ACA: One Library's Response and Info on Privacy Resources

Thank you for your interest in resources to support libraries in responding to patron requests about the Affordable Care Act! Many libraries are considering how best to address local needs regarding the ACA. This update aims to inform library staff of resources that may be of relevance to you or your patrons. Feel free to share this update with any library or community partners that might be interested.

  • The Atlantic City Free Public Library has shared their story about how they prepared to respond to patron requests regarding the Affordable Care Act, including their comprehensive guide for patrons in both English and Spanish.

  • Like Atlantic City Free Public Library, many libraries are incorporating ACA response priorities with existing service and privacy policies. The American Library Association provides an E-Government Toolkit, with guidance for libraries providing E-Government services.

  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has recommendations on best practices for individuals to protect themselves from fraud in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
