Support Patron Learning in Small Spaces with Small Budgets

This webinar showcases how small and rural libraries can provide effective training to patrons even with limited staff, resources, or space.

This event has passed.

In small communities, libraries can often be the only provider of free public access to technology and the internet. And as more people turn to their library to learn technology skills, even the tiniest of libraries are faced with the challenge of providing training to patrons with limited staff, resources, and space. Learn from small and rural libraries who are making training a reality for their patrons, engaging volunteers, leveraging partnerships and integrating learning into everyday interactions. Whether the technology training you do (or want to do) is one-to-one, on-the-fly or a more formal program, this session will include tips and suggestions for improving the effectiveness of the training you provide. This webinar is hosted in collaboration with TechSoup for Libraries and the Association for Rural and Small Libraries.

Presented by: Brenda Hough and Stephanie Gerding, consultants, TechSoup for Libraries and Wendy Street, director, Pella Public Library, Iowa.

Start time: 2:00 Eastern / 11:00 Pacific

I am unavailable this day, and every Wednesday. Will this webinar be archived? Is there a way to register, knowing I will not attend in person, for the sole purpose of being sent the archived link later?
Could a feature be added to notify me when a specific webinar is in the archive list?

I'm wondering the same thing as Lori - I do not like to sign up for a webinar if I already know I will be unavailable at the time, but I would really like to see this one.

I also am unavailable at that time; please let me know if this will be recorded in any way. Thank you.

Yes! We encourage you to register for events, even if youre not able to attend, as a way to receive notification when the archive has been posted. Also keep in mind that we ALWAYS record an archive of our webinars, so you can check them out whenever you have time. Thanks for your questions!

I very much appreciated this webinar. It gave me new ideas that we could use at our small Library. For instance we are planning monthly meetings for job seekers to help them with creating Resumes and managing the Job Interview. Since we have frequent Home Owners Association Meetings in our Library, we shall attend their meetings to promote this program and others.
