SO WIKIPEDIA IS REALLY MORE THAN AN ENCYCLOPEDIA, IT'S ALSO A SET OF VALUES THAT SUPPORT THAT KIND OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION, OPEN SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE, AND READY ACCESS TO INFORMATION. I IMAGINE ALL OF YOU OUT THERE IN LIBRARYLAND ARE REALLY SEEING THE STRONG RESONANCE WITH YOUR OWN MISSIONS, THE MISSIONS OF YOUR LIBRARIES, AND IT'S THAT ALIGNMENT THAT SPARKED OCLC, OUR INTEREST IN BUILDING STRONGER CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE WIKIPEDIA COMMUNITY AND THE LIBRARY COMMUNITY. SO OVER 200,000 AROUND THE WORLD IN 281 LANGUAGES, AND OVER 34,000 OF THOSE ARE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTICLES, WHICH AMOUNTS TO 4.67 BILLION PAGEVIEWS OF HEALTH AND MEDICAL INFORMATION. THERE WAS A 2013 PEW RESEARCH STUDY THAT FOUND 81% OF U.S. ADULTS USE THE INTERNET, AND 59% OF U.S. ADULTS SAID THEY LOOKED ONLINE FOR HEALTH INFORMATION IN THAT YEAR. SO IF YOU DO THE MATH, IT WORKS OUT TO 80% OF U.S. ADULTS, YOU USE THE INTERNET, DID ONLINE SEARCHES FOR HEALTH INFORMATION. AND THAT WAS 2013. BY 2018, THE NUMBER OF INTERNET USERS GREW TO 89%, AND SO THE NUMBER OF HEALTH ON-- ONLINE HEALTH SEARCHERS ALSO SCALED UP ACCORDINGLY. ANOTHER POTENTIALLY INTERESTING STATISTIC IS THAT ONE IN 20 GOOGLE SEARCHES IS ON HEALTH-RELATED TOPICS. SO WHAT ARE THE TOPICS THAT PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR? WELL, QUITE A FEW THINGS. I HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU. I CHALLENGE ANYONE IN THIS AUDIENCE WHO HAS NEVER -- NEVER LOOKED UP ANY HEALTH OR MEDICAL INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET, LET US KNOW.
