Hi all,
We are thinking about using WordPress to create and manage our library website. Can anyone give me examples of other library's who are using it for this purpose, not just as a blog feature within a website? Any help would be much appreciated- Jomichele

Hi,

Sorry I'm so late in replying to you, but you've come to the right place! There are a bunch of examples of libraries using WordPress for websites at the wp4lib wiki (http://wp4lib.bluwiki.com). I run the Park County Library System website using WP, and I'd be happy to talk to you about the customizations we've made and so on.

This whole wp4lib community is still small, but I hope we can grown and share more ideas as time goes by.

Hi -- I am using WordPress to develop an open source web site for my public library. I was curious to see if it could meet our needs and has passed with flying colors. It's far from complete, but moving along quickly.

It's http://www.splbeta.org if you'd like to take a look!

This is the Thesis theme – isn’t it? Looks very professional. I am curious about the calendar used. Is this an available widget?

I just have installed wordpress and started playing with it yesterday. I am the system librarian for a 3-campus career college library system in Kansas City. We have a very small library system right now but I want to open it up to many possibilities.

I want a live chat window and I want a place to have permanent type links such as our Database subscription site and library catalog. Also our contact information and perhaps a place (or form) to email me. Then I will have changing information such as "helpful links" etc etc...sometimes they change frequently sometimes not.

The question I have does anyone know of a theme that is really great in terms of simplicity for information that libraries would require? Do you have a live chat platform you like?

I so appreciate any help, I have our IT director coming today to help me a little bit and hopefully I can have some ideas to help him. I've jotted a few things down so far.

Cheers!
