It is possible to do so if the printer is on your library's network and the wireless network is set up so it sees the printers. Are you a library user or are you asking how to do this as a librarian setting up a network? If the wireless network is set up outside of the network the printer is on (separated by a firewall or is entirely different network) you will probably not have access to it.

We do not officially support or advertise the fact that we have a printer for wireless users to print to because it would require much in the way of staff time to help non-technical users setup. That said, we do have the ability to print to it as long as the user is willing (and able) to install the print driver and point it to the IP address of our network printer. We use PublicIP and the software gives us the ability to allow printing. Basically it lets you add the IP address of your printer so that your wireless users can "get through" the firewall to that printer.

Now, if you are talking about a wireless network that is not behind a firewall/proxy box or on a seperate network altogether than your wired side (which is not a good idea) then having users print to your printer would be no different than the way your wired machines print to it. If this is the case and you are having problems, it is probably because of a setting(s) in your wireless router. I would need to know more about your situation to give you any more ideas.

This is just the info I'm looking for! We are building a new library and would like to offer printing to patrons with laptops, since that is a request we frequently have. Presently we have wireless, and I'm not sure if that is part of our public network or not (I suspect it is). If the wireless and wired network is really the same, is it true people should be able to print to a network printer if they have the IP address? Do I really want to give that info out? Or should we have a "dedicated" wireless printer with its own address? Thanks!
