Registering library as hotspot: was: Our Library's Foray into Public Wirel

Has anyone listed their libraries at jiwire http://www.jiwire.com/ or metrofreefi.com

You can have your library listed as a hotspot at no charge.

I am in the planning stage, but plan to list my library once we have wireless. Does anyone have any reason not to list with either of these websites? I am hoping it will attract travelers or others looking for a free hotspot.

Many libraries have registered at both. Last year I shared the list of libraries with wireless access with the editors of JiWire to help them start getting libraries into it. I also have a form and a link to a list maintained by Marshall Breeding at http://www.librarytechnology.org/lwc-processquery.pl?WiFi=on .

Metrofreefi lists 670 libraries as hotspots: http://www.metrofreefi.com/Library-free-wifi-USA.htm

JiWire lists 959 libraries as hotspots:

Maine has setup a great "Walk-in Wireless" page that lists library hotspots in their state. See:

Apparently it's very popular with the tourists!
