Kathleen de la Peña McCook is Distinguished University Professor at the University of South Florida. In summer 2008 she was Visiting fScholar at Valdosta State University. Kathleen was President of the Association for Library and Information Science Education in 1988 and was the 2002 Latino Librarian of the Year (Trejo Award). She received the Beta Phi Mu Award for distinguished service to education for librarianship in 2003 and is author of Introduction to Public Librarianship (2004); A Place at the Table: Participating in Community Building ( 2000); and Ethnic Diversity in Library and Information Science (2000). She serves on the editorial board of the journal, Progressive Librarian. She writes the blogs "Librarian" and "Union Librarian." She is active in her Union, the United Faculty of Florida.
