About Me: I love teaching future librarians because I am a Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Rhode Island. I love teaching online and F2F. I teach the following courses: LSC 502 Management of Library and Information Services, LSC 520 School Library Media Services, LSC 527 Information Literacy Instruction, LSC 596 Practicum and Seminar in School Library Media LSC 593 Independent Projects LSC 595 Professional Field Experiences I love all libraries and I think librarianship is one of the best professions because it enables us to provide information and reader services to diverse learners. In my teaching and research, I am most interested in information literacy instruction in both school library media programs and academic libraries. I will be on sabbatical in Fall 2009 to travel, learn, and write about how academic libraries have transformed their services with new "Learning Commons" in their libraries. I will be writing and collaborating on assessment of information commons and library services. I enjoy reading fiction, history and biography. I am currently reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy because my husband, David is teaching a course on Tolstoy. I thoroughly enjoyed the new "Beach History Series" title, The King and Mrs. Simpson, by RI's own author, Erin Schulz. She is a great storyteller and she has woven an incredible love story with accurate historical context and tells their story in a concise and easily readable style in their own words. I also enjoy traveling with my husband and we recently visited Quebec City, Canada, and Madrid, Spain. We enjoy walking our dog, Selkie, but most of all, I enjoy playing with my grandchildren, Julia Ann and Liam Michael and Abigail Elizabeth.
