As the technology planning forum moderator, I should probably know this... but I'm having trouble finding detailed info about the technology planning award. I know the deadline is coming up and I'd like to take a look at the application/nomination form.

Help... Chrystie??

Thank you!

Hey! The WebJunction Award for Technology Planning is actually the very *first* WebJunction award, and I'm sorry if the info seems a little buried in the community center section. We're working on rearranging this part of the site a bit so that it's more apparent, but that's another story...stay tuned!

You'll find detailed info on the program, how to enter, and the Technology Planning category in our WJ Awards section.

Here are a few highlights:

-The Tech Planning category will highlight effective technology planning and the effects it had on programming, including how it positively affected budgeting decisions and long-term sustainability, helped clarify organizational priorities, and allowed partners to provide more effective services through better planning

-Tech Planning entries are due August 1 and can be from your very own library - or you can nominate another library

-Entries are easy - just send and email with the information requested!

-All entries will receive recognition for their submission/nomination and will be eligible for consideration of a Grand Prize next year.

One note: while at ALA/CLA I noticed in conversation with a number of folks that people may be a little shy about submitting an entry for their own library, but I don't think we should be shy about this sort of thing! It's nice to have some recognition for the work that we do - and ultimately how it affects our communities locally. So - I encourage anyone to submit their program for consideration - no matter how big or small!!!

On the page that you indicated, there were some general information, but I could not find any form or application.

I am not sure what type and volume of information is needed.

Is there any more specific information available?

Isabel - If you click on the link in the above message, you will be redirected to the information about the contest. To enter the contest, scroll down to the middle of the page where it says "How to Enter". That will give you the information required to enter.

If my memory serves me correctly, you need to send an e-mail to webjunction. Hope this helps you, and good luck!

Hello, Vclynn, and welcome to the technology forum on All Aboard!

Thanks for your post and for your help with the tech planning award info.

There is a lot of information on the awards page, so I think it's initially confusing. People expect to see a form of some sort, but instead it's an email entry, responding to a series of questions.

I'm excited that the technology planning award is the first one - can't wait to learn more about the good stuff happening out there.

Thanks again for your post!

I just spent some time looking at the technology plans of the technology planning award winners:

It was that time again; the Tech Planning awards entries & nominations were due last Friday.

Unfortunately, it appears to be a bad time of year for folks. Are they on vacation? Distracted by all the recent changes at WJ?

So, we're extending our deadline to Friday, September 3. Please check out our new Awardsl] section, and help get the word out for us about libraries you know of doing cool tech planning stuff.
