I have a resolution!
10:17 AM EST 1/5/07
Now that the crazy holidays are over, I'm going to try to do better about keeping up with the WebJunction forums! My resolution for this year is to post, every Friday, about a cool new web gadget that I've discovered recently. If this year is anything like last year, the challenge will be picking just one thing I've discovered each week...

This Friday's cool new web toy is Wikia a free, remotely hosted wiki application that anyone can use to publish/organize/corral information on the 'net. This little tool has been making the rounds of the library blogs as a great, no-investment way to get up-to-speed on wikis or to get a wiki going for people who don't have the resources to host one themselves.

Cool idea Robin!

Well, nobody gave me an iPod for Christmas and (it's not in the budget yet), but for those of you who do have one, check out MogoPop, where you can publish iPod content for free and download what others have created. (thanks to Weblogged-Ed for the link!)

Here's a sample of a museum guide. Do you think libraries could do something like this?

I've seen mention of things like that - iPod enabled library tours and the like, but I've never seen one in action. That is pretty cool! I think that would make a great introduction to the library. We've been considering different ways to incorporate a tour of the library into our site. I'll have to look at this as a possibility...

Reminds me of these Rick Steves Audio Walking Tours that I recently ran across. I think this sort of thing is a great use of portable mp3 players - which for me is my new Sansa player - since I'm not so much into the ipod thing.
