Check out this article about the very cool Web site for Pheonix Public Library, highlighted by LJ.

Note the conversation recorded just below the article.

We've also talked about the very cool Web site of the Richmond Public Library in BC.

What are your favorite library Web sites??

I am a fan of the Hennepin Co. Library website:

The link centers and the reader's advisory tools are especially nice.

<a href="http://www.publiclibraries.com/" target="_blank">PublicLibraries.com</a> has links to public library websites all over the country.

I like the simplicity and elegance of the <a href="http://www.epls.org/" target="_blank">Everett Public Library</a> in Washington. There is a lot of information on the main page, but the drop-down menus keep the screen from getting too cluttered. They are clearly proud of their digital collections.

I also congratulate all public libraries for leaping into the online world. Five years ago, there were many fewer small libraries who had mastered web technology at any level. Now they are online in force, each one showing off its uniqueness, whether or not they have flashy graphics and fancy functionality. Don't you just want to curl up by the fire with a good book at the <a href="http://www.william-fogg.lib.me.us/" target="_blank">William Fogg Library</a> in Maine?

The Morton Grove Public Library in Illinois calls their website a "Webrary." That's cool right there but what's really rockin' about the site is their MatchBook service, which allows patrons to receive monthly updates of the library's new acquisitions customized to match their interests in genre or format. The patron can select multiple fiction/nonfiction subjects, can include audiobooks, movies and music, and can even specify favorite authors.

Great use of the Internet, the library's database, and email to personalize service to patrons.
