Favorite Web 2.0 sites
7:30 PM EDT 5/19/06
I have several favorite 2.0 sites that I visit/use on a regular basis... some nearly every day. I would love to know what you are using. Let's share our fave 2.0 apps and sites!

Here are mine:

Pandora http://www.pandora.com
(with fuller comments on my blog at http://librarygarden.blogspot.com/2006/04/rocking-out-on-pandora.html )

Flickr http://www.flickr.com

Del.icio.us http://del.icio.us

Your Draft http://www.yourdraft.com

PBWiki http://www.pbwiki.com (I am using this to make a wiki for our library)

There are more, but those are my faves!

Bumping this up in the hopes that others will share with me. I am very interested in knowing what 2.0 sites others are using.

How about Library Thing? Has anyone tried it out? http://www.librarything.com It is a librarian's playground!

I agreee that this is a fascinating topic. I'd like to expand it a bit to find out more about how libraries are using some of the new social software sites.

Flickr is a great place to start because it's just so much fun. WebJunction started an account a while ago, but only last month did we take the next step of linking to it directly from our site. Our editor for the Techology Watch page added a little display (which Flickr makes it easy to do), which shows a different photo from our collection every time you land on the page.

The Reading Public Library is one of the pioneers to keep their home page fresh with a rotating display of photos. If you want to know more about how to do it, we are lucky to have librarian Andrea Mercado's Get Flickr-tastic guide to help.

I'm also a big fan of the Pandora music site. Like Janie, I blogged my excitement. I use it at work to help me block out all the ambient noise when I really need to concentrate. I wonder if any library has come up with a way to make use of Pandora for patrons.

I know there's lots to talk about on this topic, so what are you all doing?

I use http://www.writely.com to collaboratively develop content in multiple formats w/ other authors. it's a great way to work on the web and easily make a back up copy to your desktop - especially if you ultimately have to get something into Word or another format.

I use Google Docs (formerly Writely, and I'll admit I preferred that name and the overall look of Writely's site to Google Docs) all the time.
I've become mad for Flickr. I freakin' love LibraryThing. I also quite like LastFM.
As a logophile, my newest fave is Wordie, which is brilliant in all kinds of ways.
Oh, I like Wordie -- I spent my entire lunch hour on there!

I am also going to be ordering some t-shirts from here very shortly:

Yes, Wordie is lots of fun! I could spend waaay too much time there. They bill it as "Like Flickr but without the photos." It's also like Library Tthing but at the word level instead of whole books. Thanks for the link! emoticon

Yes, it's fanbox, it's a very nice tool, you can work normally as if you work on your desktop.
