New Search Engine on the block
1:03 PM EST 11/13/04
Be the first on your block to try the beta version of yet another new search engine -- Exalead. It has a nice clean interface and it offers a proximity operator (this is exciting!). Search results for matching documents include a thumbnail image of the target site, and no ads ... yet.
The left column of the results page is a thrill to my taxonomist soul. It is rich with filtering options, from a list of 'related terms' and 'related categories' to narrowing the search by geographical Web site location or document type (pdf, doc, ppt).
Read a review from Search Engine Watch (scroll down to Oct.12th entries), and run a few queries. How does it compares with your favorite search engine?

Wow, Betha! I'm impressed. Will they give Google a run for their money??

Before you run out and download the Google Desktop Search tool, you might want to read this article from Search Engine Watch on A Closer Look At Privacy & Desktop Search.
