Our library has had a blog for the past few months. Our three full-time staff contribute once a week. We are pleased with the number of views the blog is receiving and an added benefit for staff is that we are enjoying the writing, finding new ways to highlight parts of our collection and sparking dialog between us.
One reason we started the blog was to create discussion with our patrons. We are using engagedpatrons and it provides stats for blog views and rss feed views. The numbers are good but we are not getting hearing much in comment from our patrons. They do not have to create a password or screen name to comment. We're wondering what we might do better to get a conversation going. We welcome your comments and any suggestions you have to measure the success of blogging and creating dialog with the community.
If you had a blog entry that received lots of feedback from patrons, please tell me about it.
This past week I added a 2 question survey (surveymonkey) asking What is your all-time favorite comedy? in the hopes of getting some responses and adding some laugh out loud funny dvd's to our collection. Though many have viewed the blog, the response to the survey has been minimal.
Have any of used a survey and if so, any pointers?
Please feel free to take the survey at
What is you favorite comedy film?
