How to make static ip address permanent with PAC security tool
2:33 PM EDT 10/16/07
I'm new to using this tool. I have some old NT and W2k machines which I need to change the ip addresses on. After changing the address under the exec user profile it will work until the machine is rebooted or turned off. How do I make the change to the system profile?
Do I need to uninstall the Public Access Computer System Restrictions component and then make the change and reinstall it again or is there another procedure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi -

I first thought you were asking about some computers you installed the downloaded PAC Security Tool on, but I'm wondering if these might actually be Gate Foundation granted library computers instead (especially if you have an admin account called exec)? If so, at least the ones with Win2k probably also have a Centurion Guard - they would have a lock on one of the drive bays on the front of the tower. If so that needs to be unlocked and the Pc restarted before you make any change.

Otherwise, the restrictions should not affect the administrative account. If you change the address from exec, and then restart, does it just revert to the old address? If so, will it do the same thing if you just log off and back on, without restarting?
