Deschutes Library - Sisters Branch

The Sisters Branch of the Deschutes Public Library District held a staff meeting in early January to discuss Latino services and the update them on the Web-Junction training. The following is a list of topics that were discussed and actions that transpired.
1. The cultural differences that face the Latino population
2. What can the staff accomplish to help with the cultural barriers.
Action: Produce a Podcast in Spanish on filling
out library cards.
Action: Contract with a translation service to
help with communication.
Action: Update the links on the internal web-page.
Action: Provide information for staff to use to
assist with legal help.
Action: Provide information for staff to use to
assist with educational resources.
Action: Register to receive the Web-Junction
Newsletter.
3. Shared the material resources provided at the Web-Junction training.

Thank you for the update from Deschutes! I thought this quick guide about podcasting might be helpful: http://webjunction.org/do/DisplayContent?id=16133. It is part of the Blended Learning Guide WebJunction published last year. Please keep us posted. I am sure many other libraries would be interested in creating similiar podcasts.
