Hi everyone,
At WebJunction, we are trying to gather all the great resources you share into our resource pages, organizing them in a way that makes sense to you. However, as participation on the SLO boards grows, we've seen that we need to do a bit of re-arranging. I've started a page on WJ's external wiki ([url http://wiki.webjunctionworks.org/index.php/Ideas_for_SLO_Content_Organization ]Ideas for SLO Content Organization[/url]) to share ideas about how you would like to see the SLO resources organized. Due to excessive spamming, we've now required folks to create an account with the wiki, but it's a painless process (we hope emoticon). I encourage any of you who have any ideas on this to go there and share with me how you would like to be able to find resources in the Spanish Language Outreach space of WebJunction. Thanks!

We've also added a new way for you to give us your feedback on the organization of the SLO area of the website.

The following link will take you to an online card sort activity which will help us design a better resources area on WebJunction. Put on your taxonomy hats and help us come up with some great organization!

There are directions on how to conduct the activity once you are inside, but I wanted to emphasize a few points that may not be clear.

* The list of resources that I am asking you to sort may have titles that are not necessarily clear. If you let your mouse hover over the title of the resource, a description will appear.

* Be creative! The purpose of this is for me to see one, how people group certain resources together, and two, what name they give to those groups. So when you are putting resources into folders, you can call them whatever you think is meaningful. Please don't feel bound by what is already on the WebJunction website.

* There is an option to Add Comments in the top right corner. Please put here any feedback you would like to give about the organization of the SLO area of the website, focusing particularly on the resources

* The resources listed here are only samples of what will be on the site. It is possible that there are types of resources that we will feature that are not included on this list. If you want to let us know that a certain type or category of resource should be available on the website, please use the Add Comments feature in the top right corner.

I want to let everyone know that resources in the Spanish area of WebJunction will be shifting around in the next few days as we re-organize the site. Please be patient with us as we hope to bring you a new and expanded collection of resources!

We wanted to thank everyone who gave us input on how the Services for Spanish Speakers resources are organized. We've finished re-organizing and expanding our resources and hope that you will find more resources to support and enlighten your outreach work. I've attached a site map to give you an introduction to the new organization. There are a lot of areas ready for expansion so please keep those contributions coming!

Those of you who attended the SLO workshop follow-up session at ALA will remember that we asked you to rank which resources would most be helpful for you to do outreach and develop services for Spanish speakers.

The top ten types of information you found useful were:
- ESL
- Collection Development
- Literacy
- Diversity Training
- Research & Data on Spanish Speakers and Libraries
- Staff Training & Recruitment
- Spanish for Library Staff
- Library Signage
- Library Programming for Spanish Speakers
- Marketing to Spanish Speakers
- Translation Resources

Advice you gave us:
- Research and Data is useful for grant writing process
- Advice for getting your library director involved would be useful
- Advice for dealing with challenges from the community (resistance to providing Spanish language services) would be useful

We are keeping all the feedback you all have given us in mind as we move forward. If any of you have content to share in any of these categories, please let the community know.
