word 2003 clip art problem
4:02 PM EST 11/8/06
Just installed Office 2003 from software via the library software donation program. Having lots of trouble inserting clip art. When clicking to insert art an empty box appears in the document or it will show the picture partially. The microsoft knowledge base did not have a suitable answer. Their solution was to uncheck the box for picture placeholders under tools/options. This box was not selected in the first place so that is not the problem. Help anyone????

It sounds like one way or another, Office doesn't have access to the clip art files. The actual clip art is separate from the thumbnails you see in the catalog - you can see files in the catalog that aren't installed on the computer at all. the odd part to me is that you aren't seeing either an error message or office asking for the installation CD.

Is this happening in a locked down public profile? If so, does the same thing happen in the admin account? If it only happens in the locked down account, it is probably permissions keeping you from accessing the clip art.

If it happens in an admin account, try running the installation again, but this time do a custom installation and make sure you are choosing to install all the available clip art to the hard drive.

Thanks so much for your reply. Installation of Office 2003 was tried out on a staff computer that is not locked or restricted in any way. The clip art in 2003 is web based and so most of what is displayed is not on our computer (there is a little bitty catalog of clip art that has come with Office 2003) but from Microsoft.com clip art.
I will try to reinstall. I uninstalled it because of frustration, but I will try again.
Thanks
