Internet Explorer 7 and/or Access 2003
12:14 PM EST 11/2/06
Has anyone started using this? Particularly with the Shared Computer Toolkit?

I hate it but I'm old and don't like change.

Anyway, I am working on setting up a batch of new public computers and wondered if I should go ahead and use it now. Aside from not liking the way it looks, I haven't come across any problems with the toolkit yet. Anyone got any experience with it?

On a related note, I'm having a problem with Access 2003 and the toolkit. I moved the My Documents folder for the public profile to an unprotected partition but can't get Access 2003 to accept the new folder. I get the error "Access can't change the working directory to 'new folder name' when I try to run under the profile. MS has some info regarding the error message but nothing seems to apply to my case. has anyone dealt with this before?

Thanks,

As far as IE7 - I haven't tried it myself, but I did see a post from one of the MS staff on their SCT message board saying that it does work. I wouldn't be surprised though, if there are some small inconsistencies with how some of the specific restrictions apply.

With Access, if you haven't already done this, try opening Access from within the public account while the restrictions are removed, and then go to Tools>Options and change the default database folder to your new location. then replace the restrictions.

Actually, Options is grayed out in Access regardless of my login, but I haven't applied restrictions yet. I'm going to try reinstalling Access before going any further.

Sorry, forgot that step. You need to open/create a database first. Then you can get to Options.

Yeah, I had forgotten that about Access. Anyway, it appears that you can just ignore the error and it uses the new folder without any problem. *sigh*

It's fun trying to do something complicated in 15 minute snatches stretched over several weeks...

I am using the SCT and IE7. I have found 2 quirks.

1. It will not allow you to browse with tabs..

2. It puts the menu bar back in at the top of IE.

If anyone knows a work around, it would be appreciated.
