Access 2000 item numbering problem
7:22 PM EST 11/23/04
I just got a new computer and upgraded from Office 97 to Office 2000. When I opened my Access databases (which had been copied from the old hard drive by the computer technician) chunks of data were missing. The old copies of the databases still had the records but the program-generated ID numbers (that we use all the time)were scrambled. Does anyone know of a way to move this data without these problems? I can still retrieve the old data from my old computer hard drive but I can't continue to use that poor, old decrepit machine. My new book and patron recording is frozen until I can find an answer to this problem.

Thanks, Charlie.
I eventually found the answer for myself after a few hours of panic ;) but thanks for taking the time to answer, anyway.
As long as we're on the subject, has anyone ever had a whole table from Access just disappear? This happened to me a few weeks ago and I still haven't figured out how or why. Naturally, I was behind on my backups so I had to reconstruct several weeks' worth of data. (Another lesson: back up, back up, back up.) I will never get that behind in backing up again.
