Spyware problems?

One of our circ/ref. desk computers was infected with spyware. It's extremely annoying. I am thinking of installing an alternative browser, such as Mozilla and or Netscape, and was hoping someone had some advice to offer...my staff is not very tech-savvy (which is probably why this happened in the first place) and I don't want to present them with another software program that will be difficult to master...
