Any MS Word Experts?
3:01 PM EDT 6/20/04 as a reply to Chrystie Hill.
I have a staff member who is having an annoying problem with Word 2000.

She bolds & italicizes a piece of text, it shows as such on the screen, but when she prints it does not italicize but does bold.

She is using Office 2000 Small Business, printing to an HP Laserjet 4000T.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Chad

I basically uninstalled Office, deleted the Office folder, and then reinstalled.

Lotta hassle but it works!

Chad,

Look at you! With the questions AND the answers!!

I don't know if your version of Word or Office has this, but I think you can put in the install disk and do a "repair" instead of uninstalling and reinstalling on some versions.

May be worth a try for those who run into this problem in the future.

ARG

This is what I found later, so now I am more baffled.

This staff members default font was Tahoma - even after the reinstall it would not print in italics.

I changed the default font to Times New Roman and that font would print in italics.

I tried the repair first but that was no help.

Anyone seen this with specific fonts causing problems?

Thanks - Chad

I have Office XP on my machine and it works fine. Will have to go to a comp with Word 2k to check it.

Have you put on the service packs for Word/Office? That might fix it.

I tested in Office XP as well (on my machine).

I could try the updates and see.

I have a sneaking suspicion it's a printer driver issue, not the Word software. You might want to check to see if there's an update - go to the manufacturer's web site and see if there's a newer version of your printer driver.

I just tested with our HP LaserJet 4050TN with Tahoma in italics and had no problems.

I will double check ... but I am pretty sure we have the latest version of the 4000T driver.

Thanks for the info!

Hi Chad,

One idea would be to go to Corel's website, choose Purchase, and then choose Find a Reseller. You should be able to find someone else to give you a quote.

Hope this helps!

Word Perfect Suite 11 & Paradox - Price Quotes
3:01 PM EDT 6/20/04 as a reply to Chrystie Hill.
Hi -

I hope someone can help me.

In order to make any substantial purchase we have to get three price quotes. So far I have gotten two (from Corel and CDWG).

I have contacted a few other vendors with no luck - any other recommendations?

Thanks -

Chad

ASAP Software: http://www.asapsoftware.com

They have the software contract, both Microsoft and others with most of the States in the US. We bought Wordperfect Suite 10 a few years back for $40 a copy, not bad for the Suite. They have really good prices, you should call them, they beat CDWG, MicroWarehouse, and Insight everytime, by a whole bunch of money.

Just a word of advice

Before you buy, try Open Office...
