Destiny Program

Does anyone have the Destiny program to automate your library? If so, could you help us to install it? We have had the program for almost a year and cannot get it started. We are a prison library, so we'd have to get it set up and then transfer over to a stand-alone computer for inmate use.

I don't run the system, but if I did here are the questions that I would ask you as far as additional details that would be helpful in providing some recommendations or assistance to you.

1) Do you have a current support contract with the vendor? I would suggest that they might be the best resource for you to turn to if you have a current support contract. If not current, can you afford a new contract and/or the renewal fee in the future for support? That might be something to consider in case you run into problems down the line.

2) What version of the software and what specific product are you attempting to get running?

3) Can you provide additional details on where it is not getting started? Is it hardware related? (i.e. does the hardware meet the minimum requirements for the product?) Does it go through a partial install and then stop? Do you receive any error messages while trying to install, etc.? Can you provide some additional information about what you mean by "transfer it over to a stand-alone computer"? Are you planning on installing the product first on a different computer?

Depending on where you are located you may be able to find someone fairly local that could provide assistance. Many school districts in the US run Destiny. You could consult the listservs listed on the site and se if there is someone who is familiar with the product version you are trying to install and then see if they can assist you.

You could also search at Lib WebCats to see who in your state might be running the Destiny system for some further assistance.

I would also suggest that you get in touch with a tech at a regional library system / co-op or someone at your state library who might be able to put you in touch with a knowledgeable source of information.
