screen resolution with Magic School Bus
8:42 AM EDT 7/18/07
Hi,
Here's another question related to my previous one:
The Magic School Bus games I installed force the screen resolution to change (down to 600x800) when they are opened and the resolution does not change back when the games are closed (until the computer is restarted).
Is there a way to set the games so they won't do that?
Sincerely,
pjlibrarian

as a reply to Peggy Johansen.
In my experience with the MSB games we used to use, this only happened if you force-closed the game using Alt-F4. If you closed the game normally using the quit options from in the game, the screen resolution recovers.
If that isn't happening for you, you might try experimenting with compatibility mode. You can right-click on either the shortcut to the game, or on the actual .exe file for it, and choose Properties. There you should see some options to run in different modes. All the MSB titles we had actually ran in 256 color and 640 x 480 (rather than 800 x 600). You can choose these settings here, and it may allow Windows to adjust.
Also, if you have any security on these machines, you might want to test if the same thing happens if you run them from your Admin account. If so, it might also be worth figuring out what kind of video card the computer has and seeing if there is an updated driver available (the easiest way to do this would be via Windows Updates, but you can often get newer drivers straight from the video card vendors sites).
