Script from North Carolina
2:16 PM EST 1/2/08
In North Carolina we have completed two of our nine workshops. They went very well. We did not use the powerpoint slides, only the content. Several trainers have expressed interest in our workshop and the activities we used. I have posted our script which includes all activities and a detailed agenda. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Plans are to host the other 7 workshops in the spring.

As one of the three trainers for the first two NC sessions, I want to concur with Pam Jascot about their success. The sessions were held two days apart, one in Durham and the other in Winston Salem. Participants included academic librarians and public librarians from small and very large systems. We were delighted by the number of participants who came. I think we had 16 at the first and 12 at the second.

We divided the content into active learning modules, using group work, role play, simulations. We used PPT only for a handful of WebJunction screen shots. Our goal was to give each participant the skills and time needed to go home with an action plan, in hand. We designed the day to be learner-centered, informative and fun.

At each session, the community leaders were well-received. They were a hit.

The sessions went very well. There is always some tweaking that will be done for the next time, to make it just a little better...We can hardly wait.
