Effective Governance for Rural Libraries
Library governance is a team sport. The library director is the coach, the board president is the team captain, and the board members are the team players. The director-board team is charged with fulfilling the library's social contract with taxpayers and other funders, that is, in return for taxpayer dollars, the library must offer benefits that make a difference in the community.

International Library Economics Research Study (LibEcon) database
This spreadsheet provides 2002 gross data on 39 countries represented in the International Library Economics Research Study (LibEcon) database. Headers in grey are for the columns used in tabulating the four per capita library success factors (visits, circulation, staff, and expenditures) for both legal service areas and registered users. The final two columns are the totals for each of the two aspects (LSA and registered users) of library success factors for every country. The NCES figures at the bottom are included as a point of comparison for US figures.
