Advocacy over the breakfast table
3:30 PM EST 11/10/05
One of my favorite stories from the Gates Foundation 2003 Rural Library Sustainability workshop was from an Alabama librarian who invited her county council to the library for breakfast (the staff cooked it), signing up for library cards (which many of them did not previous have), and getting a sense of what the library means to the community. Anyone else have stories of making personal connections with community leaders?

I happen to believe that food is one of the greatest advocacy tools. We all love to socialize over food. What better mood to capture while you're making connections with people in the library's community?

What other ideas are there for mixing food and advocacy? Anything to do with chocolate would get my attention! ;)
