Jim,

I had put pictures from my first workshops in November under Workshop Curriculum. Perhaps you can move them here?

I didn't have any pictures from the workshop I did last week as I didn't really have anyone there helping me out. Sorry.

Linda and others that have had workshops,

Can you tell us what type of projects seem to be of interest of the workshop participants? I am really curious to see what other states are looking for in their communities.

Here are some of the pictures from Oklahoma's 3rd workshop. I don't have pictures from the 2nd one because even though I had the camera, I forgot to take pictures (my kids complain about that a lot)!

We kicked off our first Maine workshop last Monday, May 1. I took many pictures but the light wasn't right for some angles. I put them up on our website as a full page and have a new photo showing every time people come to the Maine State Library home page. No time for descriptions below and I'd want to ask each individual's permission to use their name before doing that.

It seems the government server is not the fastest at the moment so the photos may be slow to load.

Our home page: http://www.maine.gov/msl/
or to the Rural section: http://www.maine.gov/msl/rural/ -link to full page of photos is at the top with another nice photo on the "About" page

Maine had its second workshop on May 25 with librarians from the Northeast portion of the state - 48 participants. New pictures are on <a href="http://www.maine.gov/msl/rural/index.shtml">our home web page </a> and <a href="http://www.maine.gov/msl/rural/workshops/may25.htm">a May 25 photo gallery page </a>, linked from our <a href="http://www.maine.gov/msl/rural/resources/index.htm">resource page </a>at the bottom

We just finished our FIRST workshop in Arkansas. It was a great success and the pictures can be viewed following the link in the attached file.

Arkansas's information officer took pictures of the attendees with the state librarian. This way the library can use the pictures for any publicity in local newspapers.

Kay and I developed a sub-theme for Arkansas - "Putting the Pieces Together" and used jigsaw puzzle pieces throughout our materials. We printed Thank You notes for the acknowledgement section using the attached graphics on a notecard template.

One of the ice breaker type activities was having 24-piece jisaw puzzles. Each participant was given an envelope with 6 jigsaw pieces and a color on the front of the envelope. All the people with the BLUE envelopes sat together and had to "put the pieces together" with cooperation of the other people in the blue group.

Kay and I are making some minor changes in the timing so we can spend more time on the continuum and action plans. Our participants really liked meeting and visiting with other people from across Arkansas. We were able to have everyone in front of a computer during the WebJunction portion. They all registered and seemed to really like WebJunction.

We will post more later.

Last Rural Sustainability Workshop for Maine on Thursday, April 19, 2007.

Elaine & Janet who did the training felt it was one of the best with sharing, creative ideas, and a meaningful event for all in attendance.

A few pictures to add to our previous ones last year...
