Read On...Crime Fiction Barry Trott

I spent a few hours this weekend reading Barry Trott's, Read On...Crime Fiction, 978-1-59158-373-8, Libraries Unlimited, c2008. This is the latest title in the Read On Series, exploring a broad range of books thematically listed in chapters according to their appeal factor. Appeal factors include character, setting, story, language and mood and are then further broken down into exciting lists such as Swan Songs: Murder and Music, Dynamic Duos, Why Didn't They Ask the Cat (or the Dog)?: Pet Mysteries and my personal favorite, They Also Serve: Nonpolice Officers. You are bound to find something new here and also garner a better understanding of the genre to share with patrons in your RA role. A great starting point for that next book display or genre handout.
Fantasy, horror, and historical fiction are other genres studied in the series.
