Core Public Library List

I am working with a librarian who is looking for a current list of core fiction works for a small public library. I know, I know, there really isn't any one list that works for all, that it is not that simple, there's local taste, etc., but this is a one person, rural library and she is looking for something to get her started. Does anyone have any suggestions of lists or websites I can give her? Thanks-
