MS SCT: Disabling Drive Protection...
2:51 PM EDT 3/12/08
Hi,

I've had MS SCT installed for quite some time. (I tried SteadyState when it first came out with poor results.)

I've begun installing DeepFreeze Enterprise, and want to run it on those PC's that have MS SCT with drive protection. I haven't yet tried this, but assume I could "tell" drive protection to retain changes indefinitely and use DF Ent. Has anyone tried this, and what were your results?

Also, if need be, how does one remove MS SCT drive protection, but leave all other MS SCT settings in place?

Thanks so much!

I don't understand why you would want to install DeepFreeze on top of the Windows disk protection in SCT. They do the same thing.

If there is some feature, like network control that makes you want to use DeepFreeze instead, then I think you should completely remove the WDP part of SCT. Otherwise I think you could cause yourself a lot of problems.

Sorry for the late reply...

Yes, I wanted to use DeepFreeze due to its network control of multiple machines. (DF Enterprise 6.)

I did un/reinstall MS SCT without the drive protection, then installed DF. Works great...

Hey Kern -

Glad to hear that worked out for you. It's always a bit of a minefield combining security tools, but often it's the only way to get the setup you want.
