deleting a user profile in SteadyState
8:44 AM EST 2/13/08
I imported a user profile to a new computer, not realizing that it only transferred settings. Now the profile will not let me place shortcuts on the desktop, change background, or make any other changes even after I remove all its restrictions.

Will deleting the profile and creating it again from scratch cause even more problems?

(I also posted on the SteadyState forum, but received no replies and I need a solution quickly.)

Yes, I don't find the export/import profile feature to be especially useful in SteadyState.

Deleting the profile should be the way to go. Make certain it is completely gone from SteadyState, as well as your Windows User accounts list and check to make sure the profile folder is deleted from C:\Documents and Settings\.

At that point you should be able to start from scratch to recreate it.
