Film discussion group
10:44 AM EST 2/14/07
Hello. I'm moving into some programming work along with the circ desk duties I've performed for about three years now. I work in a medium-sized, community-oriented public library in Pennsylvania. We are interested in trying a film discussion group - kind of like a book discussion group, but the particpants watch films instead of reading assigned books.
Just wondering if anyone who has done something like this has any advice for us?

Thank you!

I have been thinking about doing a similar program, just have not gotten around to it yet.

Here is the blog for the DVD Discussion Group at the Stafford Branch of the Ocean County Library.

I would likely model my program after this one.

Thanks for that source! I've been looking around the web, too, and I see that libraries have handled this in varied ways.

Next step - planning a good time and finding a moderator...

Here in Bibliotheca Alexandrina we do the same, we have a specail place for the Multimedia Library so the users can meet to discus different issues related to Films, Music, ...
Once a week we choose a Film and invite users to see then they meet to discus.
We make the announcement in the general information desk and on the library website, so the users can mark their calenders.
