Google & Yahoo Images blocking?
3:30 PM EDT 7/12/05
A question came up today from libraries in Georgia. Is there any way to block pornographic images to come up via Google Images or Yahoo Images (or any other image search for that matter) with a filtering product? Anyone have any ideas? The idea is to not block all images, just those that are inappropriate.

Thanks!

Hi Max (Sigurdis)!
I am sure you already know this, but in Google's image search advanced settings you can choose to filter the images. Not sure about Yahoo, but I'll check.

Yep, Yahoo allows you to filter images in the advanced search options, too.

My brain is catching up with my typing fingers now! I think you are wanting to filter not as a patron search-by-search choice. Sorry! I misunderstood. I don't know much about how filtering software and images work together.

Yeah - that's more where I was going with that. I knew about the different settings, but I wasn't sure if anyone had effectively used a filter to "filter" out the inappropriate results. Also, I wondered whether anyone had created any sort of batch file or something to somehow restrict patrons from even selecting the "Do not filter results" options in Google or Yahoo? That would be ideal I think...
