What are some policies regarding myspace and facebook? I am against censorship, however our computers are in no way private so I do feel some obligation to protect what other patrons are exposed to as well as the many children that come into the library.

We have blocked MySpace at our library for that exact reason.

same story here. what's more, our director does not want to be involved, in any way, in aiding child predators. I don't make policy, but it's my job to enforce it. Not sure how I feel about that, either.

How did you block MySpace from your public stations - did you use a browser or a different kind of a third party software?

We purchased a system called Web Blocker. It is an in-house system controlled by a group on the east coast. You can contact our county systems manager for all the info you might want. Yodonna Pennel at 800-304-4452 ext. 8769.
