Services for Older Adults
For many years the Office of Commonwealth Libraries has recognized its responsibility for providing leadership for public libraries across the state to better serve older adults, their families and caregivers in their local areas. This has most often been expressed in making these services one of the priorities for grants using federal library funds.
Each year the ISAP Committee also arranges to have one to two speakers at the Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) Annual Conference as well as an exhibit booth with materials from each of the partnering agencies on the committee. A Best Practices Booklet and bookmarks with websites of interest to older adults are also updated and printed for distribution at the exhibit booth. During the PaLA Business Meeting, the AARP Awards and the Marietta Y. King and Alberta Walden Still Diversity Award are presented to the successful libraries.
