A partnership of the Indiana Public Library Association Indiana Library Trustee Association and Indiana State Library

  • Public Library Standards have not been revised since 1997.
  • Update and establish meaningful standards for Indiana’s public libraries to provide service level expectations to Indiana’s served residents.
  • Provide an opportunity for libraries to provide varied levels of service to their community while meeting or exceeding standards.

The State Library and the Indiana Library and Historical Board (ILHB) have responded to the need to update public library standards by establishing a library standards committee to modify and develop these standards last revised in 1997.
