Oooh, oooh, I know how to fix it! Got those XP upgrade DVDs?

But seriously, so something happened with IE. Maybe it's coming from a plugin of some sort that wants greater permissions? I have no great ideas, but here are a couple places to look:
- Add/Remove Programs. Remove anything even remotely suspicious.
- Flash - Update, or even better, go to Macromedia and find the uninstall tool and remove it completely, then install it again.
- Do that same thing for any other plugin - Adobe?
- As an experiment you could try making All a Power User. If that fixes it, that would at least tell you that it is a permissions conflict somewhere.
- Oh, and you have actually tried multiple profiles? If not try that. If it is just one profile where it happens, try removing the profiles completely and then reinstalling them.
But I also suspect that in general this may be the cost of relying completely on the CG. It's great as long as it's always on, but if there are hundreds of computers set up this way, in use for multiple years, there are going to be cases where one gets left unlocked and things happen. At that point ghosting or re-imaging is probably the best option. And it seems reasonable to me that may be an acceptable risk for these libraries, but they should be prepared for this sort of thing cropping up every once in awhile.
