Content Server/Boot Problems
3:01 PM EDT 6/20/04
One of our content servers has seemingly gone kaput.

When we turn it on we get two short beeps that repeat and the machine never boots up.

I think (if I remember my beeps) that this might be a BIOS/CMOS error but as I can get no video am not sure how to correct it.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Chad

Chad-

Could be memory as well, might try reseating.

But mainly, you should call Gateway - you guys are still under warranty. And for anyone out there with Gateway pc's that are out of warranty, you can still call Gateway about this sort of thing and they will do hardware troubleshooting on any of their pc's for free.

Dale -

Thanks for the answer. After some troubleshooting Gateway sent a new motherboard.

Now, the machine will boot but goes straight to a black screen with a blinking cursor, no BIOS messages, Gateway logo screen, etc.

This was a bad motherboard after all.

Gateway was quick and helpful in their responses and had no problems with shipping a new motherboard out to us!
