We&amp;#039;re now evaluating the use of the Sony Reader to provide ILLs for old OP titles we cannot get through our consortium.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ILL, with its attendant internals costs and mailing/borrowing costs, takes time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The question for the potential borrower is: &amp;#034;Would you rather have us get a book for you &amp;#045;&amp;#045; it may be here in two weeks or so &amp;#045;&amp;#045; or would you rather read it off of this device in a couple of minutes?&amp;#034;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Right now, we&amp;#039;re looking into how much use we&amp;#039;d get for the free downloads of out&amp;#045;of&amp;#045;copyright material. I think instead we&amp;#039;re going to be seeing more of the stuff Bob mentions &amp;#045;&amp;#045; new devices&amp;#043;new application developers who then sign on more publishers &amp;#040;specialty and general&amp;#041;. This cycle is just going to keep happening over and again until one day we look up and realize that everything we _want_ on ebook is already there and has been for a while.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I think it will sort of the way email came on. There was no great email &amp;#034;push&amp;#034; but all of a &amp;#034;sudden,&amp;#034; everyone had it. The kindle is something you buy and use for a few years.
