The "Select Interests" drop down menu is so slow as to be unsable.

Thanks for being frank, Frank! I will pass your feedback about the select interests drop down menu to our support team. We are still fine tuning things to be sure. Please stay tuned.

As of today, it's still slow. It's also unreadable. The various options display in 3 columns in a non-resizable window, lopping off the ends of each entry to make it fit the column (rather than wrapping down to the next line). I understand that it's a long list, but it would work better as a single-column scrolling window, or as a separate page with alphabetical divisions.

Hi Joe. I'll confirm that it's still slow and basically a pain to use.

We do have requirements to overhaul this functionality as part of a larger registration revamp, but that work is still quite a ways out in terms of priorities and bandwidth.

For now, you can get a limited "auto complete" type of functionality by typing interests directly in the box. Though not perfect, the resulting list can allow you to choose from a short list of items already entered by other WJ members.
