Gates volume control
1:34 PM EST 12/21/04
Hi,
I'm trying to give the "all" account
access to the volume control in the taskbar.
Does anybody know how to do this?
Thanks, Geo

Try this solution (as sent to me from someone at the GF):

• Unlock Centurion Guard using your key.
• Turn the PC on.
• Lock on as exec.
• Click Start – Search – For Files or Folders.
• Search For Files Or Folders Named.
• Locate the file mmsys.cpl.
• There will be several files similar but only 1 named mmsys.cpl.
• Right click it.
• Choose Properties.
• When the grey box comes up, click the Security tab.
• Click Add.
• Add the user group “Everyone.”
• Click OK or Apply.
• Be sure that the "Everyone" group has Read and Execute permission (click on the box to the left.
• Click apply and then ok.
• Shut the PC down.
• Lock Centurion Guard.
• Turn the PC back on as normal.

I think was would allow everyone acccess.

Hi Again,
I had tried that and while that allows a right
click to "Adjust Audio Properties" it will not allow
"Open Volume Controls" (right click) or the simple
volume slider(left click). The ideal fix (for patrons)
would be the left click up & down volume control.
Thanks for any help, Geo

I had this problem last week. This fixed it for me.

Shutdown and turn off Centurion Guard
Boot up and log in as Exec
Go to START choose RUN and type CMD - click OK
In the DOS window that appears, type the following

Echo y <Press Enter Key>
cacls c:\Windows\system32\sndvol32.exe / e /g Everyone:f Users:f

There is a batch file that automatically does this...

Here is the batch file:

And the link below are the instructions:

Using this method makes it easy to deploy these settings to multiple worktstations.
