Issue Context

The federal government also regulates toxic waste and chemicals produced by industrial operations.  The Superfund program is designed to deal with this problem by cleaning up uncontrolled toxic waste sites in the U.S.  Hazardous waste can have dangerous effects on people and the environment, so the federal government provides many educational resources for the public.  The EPA and other government websites provide users with information on these hazardous materials, how to handle them, as well as information on locating Superfund sites.
