Online Tools for Trainers
1:57 PM EST 3/13/06
I just checked out Nuvvo, http://www.nuvvo.com/ From the website: TEACH ONLINE FOR FREE Nuvvo is your way to teach on the web. Everyone knows a little bit about something, and this free, AJAX-enhanced eLearning web service is designed to bring out the teacher in all of us. Sign up and build a course in minutes; advertise your course on our eLearning Market to get the word out. Get teaching with Nuvvo, Web 2.0's answer to eLearning.
I took the quick 9 minute tour, a few notes:
Pros Can create self paced courses- can integrate multimedia Looks easy and straightforward, uses simple language Will integrate blogs and discussions Can charge students for courses, they take care of transactions and take 8% of the cut Context sensitive help (really highlight their help features) FREE to instructors Highlighting community aspect of this Includes ability to create simple assessments
Cons Have to invite students (send an email, logins and passwords generated) At this point no synchronous tools Storage limited to 100mb (but can probably upgrade for a fee)
Seems like a GREAT tool for a small library that needs to create simple training modules.
