Weird and Unusual Reference Questions
12:24 PM EDT 8/4/06
Hi all,
I am teaching a class next week on Advanced Internet Search Strategies. I haven't been at a reference desk in so long I've forgotten some of the great questions people ask. I'd like to have several questions for the participants in my class to practice searching. I know they're out there--could you pass some my way?

Long ago when I was teaching basic reference to LTA students, my fave question was "What can you tell me about Afghans?"

The point was to encourage discussion about what the question actually meant. Was this the people, the crochet-work, or the dog?

The Hibbing Public Library developed an training for Advanced Internet Searching & has shared it on WebJunction. Some of the final slides are practice searches for students to try.
