Certification Taskforce
The Indiana State Budget Agency, as a result of a review of the programs of the State Library, suggested in its PROBE Report that library certification be discontinued. At meetings held by the State Library across Indiana in early 2007, the library community was asked if certification was important and should be retained. The overwhelming response was that certification should continue and be strengthened. The State Library supported this opinion and formed a statewide Certification Taskforce to evaluate current rules, best practices and develop new rules that will add credibility and validity to librarian certification. The Taskforce was open to all and included more than 60 people from the library community. The Taskforce met five times through the summer and fall and developed recommendations.
