We offer courses to help serve diversity initiatives at your library, such as The Reasons Why Diversity Matters and Diversity: the Future. Go to the Course Catalog and look in the Ethics & Values section under the Customer Service & Interpersonal Skills category. Visit the Spanish Language Outreach Program section for resources to help reach out to your Spanish-speaking communities. Help us build out this topic on WebJunction. We’re looking for good articles, links, handouts, worksheets, and audio or video files to share under the documents tab, as well as volunteers to contribute to this area of the site. |
Libraries are in a prime position to nurture diversity through outreach to patron populations and through employment of a diverse staff. If libraries are in the idea business, then diversity fosters a richer environment for the fertile growth of ideas.
