WebJunction Course Sets offer a guided curricula solution where staff enroll in a short series of courses on key topics. These sets provide recommended learning paths that offer an efficient continuing education experience for library staff looking to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas.

Microsoft Office Basics 2010

Deploy and Configure Windows 7
Many libraries are planning to upgrade to Windows 7. This course set is designed to provide the required Windows 7 skills and knowledge to staff who are responsible for installing, configuring and managing the library's computers.

Library Leadership
These five courses will help develop leadership abilities and provide the foundation to assess, build and sustain those abilities throughout one's career. The courses in this set help one to think and act as a leader in their library and community, no matter one's current position level.

New Library Director 1
As a new library director with limited experience, there is a lot to quickly learn with little time and money. This is the first of two sets designed to build skills, knowledge and abilities in the core competency areas necessary to be a successful director.

Suggestions for usage

  • Review the course set topics, selecting the topics your library staff need.
  • Send your staff to the appropriate course set pages, providing instructions for how you want them to use the sets.
    • Remember staff must first register as WebJunction members and request affiliation from your sponsoring state library agency
    • Clearly communicate expectations for timeframe and course completions
    • Consider how many courses you wish staff to enroll in at one time
    • Make sure that staff are provided sufficient dedicated time to successfully complete the courses enrolled in.
    • If multiple staff members are using the same sets, consider creating learning cohorts, where they can discuss and expand on what they learn from the courses.
  • The learner follows the links on the set page to the individual course pages, enrolling there by clicking the Add to Cart button, and then returning to the set page to make another selection.
  • To complete the enrollment process, he/she clicks the Go to Cart button from the page of the last course added.
  • Once they have checked out, the learner can click on the My Courses link to view their learning plan and launch the courses
