Is anyone going to the PLA conference in Seattle in February?
WebJunction will be there with a program, and a members reception. Let us know if you'll be in town!

We hope that everyone will be coming to PLA in Seattle. The local arrangements committee has been working hard to plan a great conference, and Seattle is a wonderful city to visit. I came to Seattle the first time to accompany my husband to a conference, and 8 months later had moved here!

Just look at Seattle's rain as an 'opportunity' to show off your latest winter gear. I'll be there with my brand-new hand-knit fleecy-soft muffler keeping me warm. Why do you think REI and Eddie Bauer thrive in the Pacific Northwest? Bundling up can be fun!
Look forward to meeting all of you at the WJ table and functions. I'll be there Thursday and Saturday.

All,
We're planning a member reception for Thursday Feb 27 from 4.30 to 6 at the Sheraton (can't remember the room just now, but I guess it has a lovely view of the city!!). So far, planning to have wine, beer, and munchies. Will also have a welcome (from me and our program manager Marilyn Gell Mason).
Requests or ideas for other things we should do when those of us who are there have the chance to meet "in person" ??
Fire away...

It looks like I'll be playing hooky from school for much of that week, but I can't miss the opportunity to meet some WJ folks in the flesh!
As for Northwest fashion, go for the layered look -- that is, you put on a nice slinky dress, and then you layer over it with a sweater, raincoat, rain hat, muffler, fleece socks, & waterproof boots. Oh well, at least we're all in the same boat/puddle here.

Perfect! It will be great to meet you (and welcome to 'All Aboard' while we're at it!)
To All: here's the registration form for the members reception.
Note: the members' reception is listed as "WebJunction Reception" with all of OCLC's happenings at the conference; all you have to do is scroll down the page to select it.
I hope to see more and more of you signing up! And see you there in a few weeks...

THANK YOU so much for the awesome WJ reception at PLA. It topped off an overwhelmingly educational and enlightening day for me. I attended Eugene PL's presentation on planning and implementing the next wave of library technolgy; I visited with four major ILS vendors; and I networked with many other libraries there. Because the event was so close to home, more than half of Everett PL's staff were able to attend the event. It's got us buzzing about implementing a new ILS within the next year or two. The WJ event was icing on the cake! Again, thanks,
Chris Cooper

I'm going to change the topic title of this thread so that we can use this space to talk about library conferences as they come up.
Anyone going to Orlando this summer?

Great idea with the topic title change. Orlando is still too far for me but if you guys ever get to NYC or northwards...

Used to live in Fairbanks so it would be fun to go back (this time of year it's not bad!) but you're right - don't hold your breath!
Montana Library Association has it's conference April 24 - 27. One of our programs is on Book Cart Drill Teams!
