Re: Library Conferences & Meetings
2:17 PM EST 3/9/05 as a reply to Loriene Roy.
That is great to hear about, Loriene. For all of us who can't make it to Texas, please let us know how it goes.

Are there any WJ members planning to go to the Computers in Libraries conference in DC, March 16-18?

WJ is on the program to give a presentation about building our online community. We always like to meet in person with members and make the virtual connections into real-time ones. Let us know if you'll be there and we'll meet up!

For those of you who are going to be there:
The WJ program is on Friday, Track B, 4.15-5.00pm

But you can meet up at other times too, of course...!

I'd love to hear from Betha, Max, and Steven about how the program went - I already heard from one participant thre (Michael Stephens) that the program was great! But how was it on your side?? Should we be putting this in the shameless promotions topic???

Also, any other tid-bits from the conference that stick out in your minds? I was sad to miss it.

I'll be at BCLA next month. Anyone else going to be there? Let's hook up!!!

I can avoid being 'shameless' by saying how great it was to have Steven and Max collaborating on our WJ presentation at the conference. We organized it to be less of a formal talk and more of a relaxed discussion with all of us sharing thoughts and experiences with online communities. Even though we were in the last time slot on the last day and competing with Gary Price and Tara Calishain, we had a good audience who chimed in with their own questions and opinions.

The rest of the CiL conference was just buzzing with emerging technologies. I want one of these --the OQO model 01-- whenever the price comes down out of the ozone, that is. It's a paperback book-sized laptop with "a working Windows XP computer with a FireWire port, built-in 802.11b wireless, and Bluetooth" - !!!

It was great to be in the presence of so many 'movers and shakers' emoticon
